Got out solo again. Fished from about 7:15 until almost 2. River was a bit under 3 feet at POR and water temps 62-63.8 degrees.
I struggled to find the fish at first. No bites near shoreline or creek inflow. I got my skunk off with this guy on a hand tied jig with zoom menace grub.
Fishing was really tough. I made a run and finally anchored near a rocky area by shore. Tried different lures, then threw out the little craw behind me in deeper water. Immediately got bit by about a 13 incher. Tossed it back out and got slammed. I set the hook and started to fight the fish, but it came off. I decided to toss out a different lure and grabbed the rod with the TRD. It got hit at the end of the drift back and I reeled down and when I pulled it did not budge and when i pulled back the line snapped. It felt big. Leader broke a few inches below the knot, and it sounded like my rod broke when it happened.
I fished there for a while longer with no more bites. I made a move because it was getting cold and windy. I moved to the wind protected side. Finally got a little chunk on a tube while floating.
Ate my lunch with some cool scenery nearby.

I started floating back and got my cool catch of the day. I threw a little flat sided crankbait on a glass rod I bought at a one of the Dale City Tackle Shows with an old Shimano Green Curado 70 I bought and refurbished. Biggest fish of the day.

I caught one more 13 incher on the tube and a little guy on a Spinner jig.
The wind picked up and I had a rough trip back to the ramp with some white caps. Ended with 6 smallies on 5 baits and no biggies. I think at least some of the fish are spawning.

Ugh! Late April fools? Should be 4/2 - Ernie, can you correct the date when you get a chance?

Had to work for fish yesterday
Buddy was downriver of you and slayed them
Ernie & I were on the same river but about 20 miles apart. Same as you & my buddy. Very different conditions for both of us, son the same river with very different results

You still got quality time out and caught a few, so that's a win in my book. Thanks for the report!
