We got out a little after 6 am and started looking for jigging fish. Could only find small pods of fish and no hookups. After 3 hours of that we decided to troll some. Water temp is already 86 and probably hit 90 by the end of the week with this heat wave. Got the 6 trolling baits in the water and started working our way back to the house. The way-way-way back rod gets slammed after we go over a small school of what looked to be big fish on the sonar and side scan. It's taking line and I hand the rod to Benjamin form the rocket launcher rod holder. Not making up any line and I have to circle the boat back towards the fish. It was quit a battle of 14 year-old vs. big fish. He eventually gets it beside the boat and I wonder if it will fit in the net. Just barely does! What a beast....29" and a very fat 12 lbs! Benjamin was exhausted. The head on that thing was as big as his. The fish was tilted back towards him a little when I took the pic and doesn't quiet do the fish justice.
Bested his personal best by 1" and 3-4 lbs. He was a very happy camper. He wants to get up at 5:30 again tomorrow morning! ![]()
