Lake Frederick Questions
Trying to do some planning for places to fish this year. Saw Lake Frederick on the map near Front Royal. Does anyone have any relatively recent experience fishing there? If so, what thoughts would you share regarding kayak fishing there?

My first time there, there was loads of good grass, excellent water clarity, I could see lots of fish and I caught a bunch. The next two times the grass was gone, it was murky and I caught a combined total of 1 dink bass.
I haven't been back since and I wouldn't bother unless the grass has returned.

Been three times in the last year and a half. No grass, but still crystal clear. Caught my biggest fish there that was 7lbs. However, that is basically all I have caught there.

I've had some great days there, but last year was weirdly bad. I went maybe three times and only had one bite in several hours combined. No one else I talked to caught anything except sunfish and crappie.

Bruce - you gota fish Ashburn Lake (lake with the islands) in your yak. There are some beasts in there.
