Another model....

...I think we will get some effects. Those closer to the coast and bay will get a significant event.

No matter what happens early next week..........I predict that 2+ million PEPCO customers will loose power and many of those will be without power for a week.

Glad that I have Virginia Power Company! big_smile

Yeah, but do you have any blue/black Strike King 3/8 jigs and plastic blue pigs left?  Might have to fish for my dinner next week tongue

Re: Who is watching Sandy?

Now they are calling for about 6" of rain here and 60 MPH winds for Mon. and Tue.  Could get very interesting tongue.  Have your zombie ray guns fully charged!

Federal gov't is closed on Monday.  Gonna be tough fishing in 60 MPH winds and driving rain tomorrow!

Re: Who is watching Sandy?

I was planning on working form home today....but I am now in hurricane mode.

Back in '72, I stayed up all night volunteering for the water authority. The Lake Barcroft Dam breached and there was a house that was in danger of "falling in". We removed most of the contents only to to find out in the AM that the house was luckily built on bedrock. It was going nowhere. It belonged to Jack Perkins, NBC news guy. We also made a rescue to a construction crew that could not
swim out from their now flooded construction site.

But the most memorable event was on Saturday evening as Agnes started to make herself known. This would be my parents last night in NoVA as they were getting ready to move down to Venezuela (pre Chavez). I had just started dating a young lady by the name of Debbie so I wanted her to meet them before they left. After work (we both worked in retail at Landmark Mall) we were on our way to Falls Church traveling on Old Columbia Pike. Just ahead, there was a tree down and I could see a set of headlights. Maybe someone was trapped? It was pouring but I got out to investigate. Before going, I told Debbie that if she heard anything, to hit the deck. I got to the car and a lady was in there with her hands frozen to the steering wheel. I coaxed her out and took her over to a house nearby.

Just then, I heard a crack and sure enough, a tree had fallen on my '66 Chevy Nova with Debbie inside! To this day, I still don't know how I did it but I was able to move the tree off the car. Damage was minimal and Debbie was OK. But I was battered. My pants and shirt were torn and I was soaking we but we went on and introduced Debbie to my family.

And that's...the rest of the story!

Stay safe!

Re: Who is watching Sandy?

Agnes was a rain event, I'm worried about the wind with the rain this time. Agnes was like flushing a giant toilet bringing who knows what from up north. Whatever it was it eliminated all of the sav in the bay and rivers. Most of the vegetation has never returned. I hope that the bay is spared this time around, but I fear it won't be fishable till spring. We're as prepared as possible, and even managed to coax my sis out of Ocean City (long rainy round trip). Be safe everyone, may all of your trees stay upright and all of the leaves blow next door.

Re: Who is watching Sandy?

Bob- what are your feelings about the Lower Bay (CBBT)? Will the runoff dissipate by the time it gets down that way?

I think I need a FL fishing trip....
