Due to life stuff, it had been 21 days since I had been on the river. That's just way too long for this time of year!! ![]()
Today, we did a later start so we could do some lunch on the river bank and catch a few.
This was Bill O'Connor's maiden trip with Chris.
We found this at the ramp...
...had to be a good ole boy or one of my cousins.![]()
The fishing was not hot and heavy (bites were few and far between) but we got 10-12 of them, none were picture worthy. Chris said something about a 14-15" minimum! ![]()
Bill caught his on a whopper plopper and he got more than me. I struggled with the fluke and swim bait and finally caught a few on the belly weighted Flat Worm.
Lunch time!
Here's the retired Colonel inspecting our landing!

Doing what we do...

..we surmised that someone had a watermelon seed spitting contest at the campsite there.
We had a great time out there and it was a beautiful day but the bigger gals and guys were in hiding.
The grand finally was a cold brew shake at the Deer Valley Farm store. Delicious!!

Never seen a watermelon on the river - wild.
Always good to get out and enjoy

I failed to mention that we ran in to the mayor of Poolsville while getting our shakes.
I asked him about White's Ferry and he's hopeful that it will reopen in a year or so. But at double the cost!

Nice report and cool pics. The rod and the watermelon are true finds! Good on Bill for catching them on the whopper plopper!
