River 8/18 and 18/19/26

Planned a trip with my grandson Emerson Tuesday.  River only rose to 1.58 feet after Sunday's rain.  Plan was to meet at 6:00am.  He overslept and ended up getting there at 7:30am.  I stayed close to the ramp and got all caught up in the grass while catching no fish.

We fought our way through the weeds and finally made a run in some open water.  Fishing was slow, but the weather was really nice.  Nice breeze and stayed mostly cloudy.  Emerson was the first and second to score on a swimbait.

Fishing got tougher as the breeze died off and the skies cleared.  I finally caught a dink and that was it for the day.  Weather and company were great!

Today, I got out with Jimmy.  I don't usually like to go 2 days in a row, but we worked around his PT schedule.  6:00am launch with water almost at 2 feet!

We still had to struggle with the grass but made it to open water and it was good from there.  I scored first, with a nice fight on a zoom speed craw.

A few minutes later, I caught a kitty that thumped the craw.

The craw seemed to be the ticket.  A little while later I got a good take.  Finally, a better fish.

It got slow.  The weather was very nice, so we were just enjoying being out on the water.  A while later, Jimmy finally got on board.

I caught a catfish that I releases before a picture.  Then jimmy caught another smallie.

Jimmy finished up with a dink smallie.  The bite died and it was getting warm .  We got off the river by 12:00pm after fighting the grass mats back.

Two very comfortable but slow action fishing days on the river!

whoa, cool report.  That kitty must have been a heck of a fight!  With the weather getting cooler....will the fishing cool off too?

Fishing gets better up through October.  My issue is the grass.  It will stay choked and then break loose, causing a whole other issue.  It slows the flow and, in my area, makes it too slow for how warm the water is.  The fish move upstream where there is more flow in my opinion.
