5-20-26, UP

Bob joined me and Chris today to give it ago!

River level at POR was 1.4' and dropping. Water temp started at 76dF and ended up at 78dF.

The bite was not hot except for a period where  we had several bites (and misses) along with some nice catches!  All told we were 8 for 12 or so.

Customary 1st fish pics...

Another nice one.

We were just finishing fishing an area when Chris said, "make one more toss up there". The scenario was just like George's a few weeks back when he got slammed by that nice channel kittie. I threw to a corner at the base of a rock and got slammed. A run ensued (very shallow water) and I got turned around. Yep, rod held up high as the fish took off behind my back. Our 1st look was the tail and it was dark. Another giant smallie?

Nope! Same result George had.

What a fight though!!

A nice addition to the raft...

The bite died down as the temperature soared so we called it a day.

As Chris got the raft secured, Bob took me back to my car. And just like the last time we fished together, a train was stopped on the track right where we needed to go. No way It was actually moving backwards, albeit very slowly. I told Bob to turn around and take me to Big Belly's. No more torture (like last August 20+ minute wait). Before we turned around, the train started moving and we only lost a few minutes after all.

So on to Big Belly's we went and this time, I remembered!!

Bob had the cheese steak, I had a mushroom cheese steak and Chris went for the falafel wrap again.

There was a large group of senior bikers that were having lunch there. I asked them if this was their 1st time and how they liked it? Lots of thumbs up!

So now, we wait. We wait to see if the river gets some much needed water. The river was slow and stained. Lots of pollen like stuff on the still parts of the river. A good flushing would be well deserved.

That is 1 nice size catfish, that had.to.put up.one neck of a fight.  Yeah we definitely need some rain to bump up the river cause it is getting low and we're not even in the middle of summer yet

Glad to see you got Bob out.  Nice fish and big cat.  I am excited about the rain and being able to get the boat out again.

Nice fish again.  The quality of fish you get in the UP is so impressive.  That cat had to be a great fight.  And thanks for the sammy pics....looks amazing!

Might be a few days....

....it's latte and moving at POR (now forecasted to go to 9.7' by Monday morning). At the Goose, it had a bit more chocolate in it.

Of course, since this was a short road trip with the grand kids, we made a stop at Big Belly's...

The chicken poppers at BBs are amazingly juicy. You can get several sauces to go with them but Luke chose ketchup. big_smile Nick had the smash burger and was impressed. I had the falafel wrap for a "lighter" lunch. Tasty.

Surely we talked about the TWO places to get fresh, home made ice cream up there!

We went to Rocky Point Creamery (Red building). They make their ice cream.

The scrapple people are at The Market at Deere Valley.

Cool! I think I sent one of his kids to college with all the work he's done at the Rojas compound...
