We've had today scheduled on the books for a few weeks and as we got closer, the weather forecast was not being kind.
But...we saw a window and rolled the dice. They came up smiling. Still, the forecast was not gonna be too nice to us (falling temps, wind and a chance of showers).
We had some company but they were the good guys.
We met at the take out at 11a after the rain had stopped and then went up to where the raft was to start the day.
We started out catching a few but George and Chris would not let me take pics of them.
The river looked great!

The catching was slim (we did end up with 10 hook ups, I lost a nice one right as I was getting ready to land it) but we kept at it.
Towards the end, George hooked up with this nice fattie!
And in the bottoms of the 9th, I was able to redeem myself with a nice one!
We got off the water around 4:30p and it started to sprinkle. Perfect timing. We talked about having dinner at Big Belly's but it was just too early so we passed it up.
Well, not really
After Chris took me to my car, I got a take out order at Big Belly's.
Steak 'n cheese with mushrooms and onions.
Delicious...I will have the other half for lunch tomorrow.
Today was a good day. It was great to get back on the water and while it was chilly, I was OK since I dressed for it.
Chris definitely got a work out today. First the wind pushed us downriver and for a bit, it was coming up river. PIA but he did a great job getting us shots.
Looking forward to many more trips (when it's warmer). ![]()

And we got to experience a frontal bite.
Wind picked up, icy chills blew us up river, frozen feet and the fish start biting. First we saw them feeding on top, so oddly, top water bite was on. Something turned the fish on river before we got to the take out and stayed on the water another spell having fun.
Day Um. That cheesesteak looks great.

I was wondering if you guys were going to go out with the forecast. Great job prevailing and catching some nice fish! I ventured down to the shoreline for a bit and saw some topwater blow-ups, but I figured they were carp. You get a fluke bite?

Nice job sticking it out and getting on the fish fellas. I've never heard of George being shy about photos, but it must be from the old days of 35mm film where we only had so many shots available lol. HAPPY 70th George!!! You look great buddy!

Great report. Surprised you're not fishing for shad yet.

I'm addicted to floating the rivers!
However, I've had a couple of invites to go and the timing just didn't work out. Hoping to get out there on Monday or Tuesday of next week.
