Occoquan River01/14/26

Got out with Jimmy to try for some crappie.  Last chance before cold rolls in.  Got there about 8:30am or so.  There was one boat working the area when we got there.  Pretty chilly but not freezing.  Found fish but getting them to bite was a different thing.

Jimmy finally got the skunk out of the boat with a little yellow perch.

I had one nice feeling fish on for about 5 seconds before it got off.  We had a couple bumps.  It was getting breezy and a few more boats showed up.  Fish were rolling through but not biting.  We discussed calling it at 1pm.  Just before then I hooked up with a nice one.

That got us excited and we decided to stay another half hour.  We tried but no more bites.  Off the water before 2pm.  We ate lunch on the water.

Just behind Jimmy (bridges) was some of the best yellow perch water around here. Then came the hoop netters and decimated the fishery.

Some nice slabs there...

Brickmakers was open but we did not plan on eating there.  Thought we would catch a load of crappies for dinner.  A warm lunch would have been nice if we knew how it was going to be,

Nice crappies. That's a neat area to fish, never know what you might catch.
