Got out with Jimmy and his grandson, James. We were not sure what to expect with rive at 1.5 feet at POR. On the river at about 7am. Stayed close at first with James missing a nip at a tiny torpedo. Not a whiff after that. Plus, I lost a chug bug that caught me at least 3 20"+ fish in the past in a tree. I decided to try a run upriver.
With full pucker in affect, I made it much further than expected. We tried a bunch of stuff floating back. Finally, a little over half-way back to the ramp. Jimmy got bit on a little swim bait.
We were happy to get the skunk out of the boat. We just kept floating and I had to fight the increasing wind as we got closer to the ramp.
I felt a bite (big TRD on a wobble head) and reeled in to set the hook and it was a fish! I had a nice little fight before Jimmy got it in the net. Chunky, about 14.5" smallie.

It was a nice day to be out, and we saw lots of travelling fish. Mostly catfish, but carp, suckers and a few large smallies that did not want to eat our lures. We all had at least one missed bite, but tough day overall. Water temps were 53-55 degrees. Off the water by 2:30pm.

Not much of a bump but it got you out. The wind has been a factor lately and will be for the rest of the week, it seems.
Good job getting out.

Nice job on catching a few. The last month or so the fishing has definitely been slow
