Bob and I fished with Chris again today. We were on the water shortly after 7:30a after running the shuttle. The air was crisp but I knew it would warm up soon so no jacket for me!!    wink

Flukes and Berkley Flat Worms were the ticket today.

I would characterize today as a not a hot and heavy fishing day but we still managed 1 1/2dz fish and more than 20 hit or misses. We had action but it was not on fire despite a Major Solunar time between 1030a and 12:30p, if you are into that stuff.

Still, we had a blast and caught fish on a gorgeous day! What's not to like about that?

A lot of folks on the inter web were talking about the September smallie transition. What's that, if it's a real thing? Do they just relax and wait until October to feed up? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Some of the highlights...

Below is a Lion's mane Mushroom that Chris spotted on a tree at the ramp. A quick hike in the woods and he got it!

There were also some freshly fallen ripe paw paws on the shore but we left them there. The scent (mango/banana) in the air reminded me of Cuba.

We saw eagles, ospreys, long tailed squirrels, deer and heron.

When we were done at the ramp, Bob and I high tailed it to go get my car while Chris buttoned up the raft. Then, it would be lunch at Big Belly's.

But...not so fast. When we got near the ramp, there was a train stuck on the tracks.

This was the movement west but he was trying to get back to an  eastern track. We saw him come by when we were at Big Belly's. Glad we didn't hand around.

We were waiting for over 20 minutes. Two other trains came by but the stopped train was still not moving. I asked Bob to please turn around and head to Big Belly's. We were hungry.

So hungry that no pics were taken. Bob and I had the smash burgers (doubles) and Chris had the mushroom steak 'n cheese. All delicious and all wolfed down rather quickly.

Bob then took me back to my car and that was a good move for him. Normally, he would have gone down Rt.15 and when I took the bypass on the way home, the traffic that he would have endured was backed up for miles!

BTW, I'm always looking to go back out again with Chris. If anyone wants to try it, let me know.

Time to go fishin' again!

Awesome day with some nice toads

Glad Chris knows his schrooms.  I'd be afraid to eat anything I thought was safe

Looks like a migrating monarch butterfly on his way to Brazil.

I feel the same. It turns out he's quite the mushroom hunter. Kinda like  the 'peep of mushrooms. Remember that one  we saw at Claude Moore? He said we should have grabbed it and ate it.

I went out with a friend looking for morels.  We found them, cooked them up and they tasted to earthy for me
