The water is low!
We (Bruce, Chris and me) were on the water by 6:45am. I was not as cool as predicted but is was misty (not predicted) which made it seem cooler. We did not have to contend with the predicted winds but just a few times.
The water was low. I think it was below 1' at POR. Still, Chris's raft can slide over the bottom as long as we have a few inches. And the water is still @70dF so bearable in case we (Chris) needs to get in to pull which he did when we took a shortcut between islands.
The bite was steady but a bit on the slow side. I think we had 15 in the boat and maybe 20 lost including a few jumpers. Still, an exiting morning.
We each got our skunks off with small fish (Bruce's was really teeny). Don't get mad for me mentioning this, he gets even later! ![]()
Here are some of the good ones!

My heart rate went up a bit on the next one. Good hit and lots of drag pulling!
Earlier in the day, Bruce got hit and we could tell it was a good one. I sat back and watched the fight and got to take some pics!
You can't see it, but there is a big fish in that water!
After it was landed, Chris and I were whooping and hollering! Bruce was cool as a cucumber.
Once we measured it (I had just given Chris a Hawg Trough that I had cut at 21"), the tail was right at the edge of the device...a 21"er!!
What a beast!! It was hard to fish again for a few minutes after seeing that trophy and we still had half the float to go. But we managed to float and fish some more.
Fluke and 4.2" Flat worms were the ticket today with flukes having the upper hand the Plopper produced one sniff.
It misted on and off for a good part of the day but it was bearable. The wind only messed us up a few times.
Great day out with a great ending at Big Belly's. Chris is well known there now.

That Nashville Chicken Sammie was really good. Chris had the Buffalo Steak 'n Cheese which he inhaled, it was so good. Bruce had a Steak 'n Cheese.
We got a chance to chat with Shah, the owner. Great guy and I hope his business keeps on growing!

Man oh man, that is a BEAST! Great job and congrats to Bruce!
I tried from shore this AM and did not get a bite. The only time I saw fish active, I had a big birds nest that took me out of contention.

BTW, that’s 3 straight outings with Chris where the boat has boated a 20+ inch fish!

Beautiful smallie, congrats to Bruce!
I see at least a dozen different things I want to eat on that menu.

Ernie covered the story well, but I want to comment on the "special" smallie I landed yesterday. It was early on in our trip and still pretty cool. Water was calm and very shallow in most places. No fish had yet been landed when I had a strong hit after a near perfect cast. Quick strike, rapid reeling, and there it was...a beautiful smallie that went at least 4 inches!!! Anybody can catch the big ones, but it takes talent to land a 4 inch fish on a 4 inch fluke. LOL.

holy cows that 21'r is a beast! What an incredible specimen. And, I think it is very very cool to be able to catch the smallest of them too! Gotta train them young to take the bait!!!
