SOLD!!

After 40+ years of me owning a boat...no more! No regrets.

This is what's left!

Here's the list the boats I've had over the last 40+ years:

12' Sears Kingfisher w/ Sears 4hp Air Cooled engine (year unknown, but old)
14' Lowe Jon that I bought new and was semi customized in Hagerstown MD w/'69 9.9hp Evinrude
16' Sea Nymph Crappie Model with 9.9/15hp Johnson later upgraded to 40hp Tohatsu (this was Carl Johnson's boat).
19' Pacemaker CC w/ 115hp Suzuki (the boat that almost sunk with Curly and Jimmy on board).
20' Hydra Sport CC w/ 150hp Johnson
17' Tracker Targa w/ 115hp Mercury
18' Rhino Jet custom built by James River Jets (Jim Starkey) 2016, w/ 115/80hp Tohatsu

I enjoyed the rides for sure!

Re: SOLD!!

They say the happiest days of being a boat owner are the day you buy your boat and the day you sell it. Bet it will be nice to never have to worry about any of the maintenance and storage anymore.

You're welcome in my little rig any time. It's not a Hydra Sport or a custom jet but it finds the fish!

Re: SOLD!!

I'm sure I speak for many of the current and prior members of this forum. We all enjoyed the gracious hospitality that Ernie offered us on all of his boats. He usually spent time making sure that we enjoyed ourselves and had a successful day of catching fish...even when it reduced his own fishing time. I will miss his role as "captain Ernie", but I still hope to enjoy his company and friendship on and off the water for many years to come!

I will take you up on that some time...in warm weather.

Re: SOLD!!

Nice Ernie!  Congrats!!  What are you going to do with that free time and space now?  I have to admit that owning a boat for me has been a joy.  I haven't done anything with it like trolling or even any real fishing, but I enjoy the cruising and just resting in the coves.  I guess I should plan out a trip somewhere, but just being out on the water gives me peace.

Re: SOLD!!

Well the space was rented so I get to keep some money in my pocket. I will be using guides for my fishing expeditions. Walk on, fish and then walk off and go home.

Re: SOLD!!

Congrats, Ernie!  I was wondering if you were going to sell after noticing you had not been taking it out.  Thank you for all of the great trips you shared with me.  Many great memories!!

I know the feeling after selling a boat you no longer need.

Congratulations

I think?

And thank you for all the memories we've shared on your boats

Maybe one day I can return the favor?

Re: SOLD!!

The sale became official on 9/5 when Jim Starkey accepted a check from the buyer. I’ve had 10 days to think about it and frankly, the thinking was what needed to be done (turn in tags, cancel insurance, notify DWR, LoCo etc.). On the way back today, as we crossed the ‘mac, I mentioned the sale to Debbie. No regrets.  The decision was 2 years in the making. I was just tired of the “process". It’s easier now.

Certainly had some great times with a bunch of folks on the boats.
