Aug 2 - Aug 3 Potomac Aquia Harbor

Just a report of NADA!
Aug 2 at 6 am
The cold spell seemed to shut it down Saturday morning.  I lieterally had one atttempted strike and the blind fish missed.  The carp were back in and all over the place with many of them bedded down in the hydrilla.  I was amazed to see so many huge carp just sitting there (of all colors) until I got within paddle striking distance.
I thought about just netting one for a quick picture, but decided to just let them be.
The only other strike I had or potential strike was an osprey who started flying down towards my frog!

Aug 3 out of hope springs marina 8 am
My neighbor asked if I wouldn't mind taking his boy out and of course I obliged.  I decided kayaks were the way to go for fishing instead of the boat, so we went out of our marina and paddled over to some nice looking pads.
His casting has been really good and his understanding of the techniques, so we just sat back and watched to be supportive.
We actually chatted briefly with the home owner as he was outside chasing geese away off the lawn (his home is right next to the train tracks and the bridge heading out).  It's a really nice piece of property on the water, but being so close to the tracks would be a mess for me.  Anyway, he said he's seen some nice snakehead taken from the area we were fishing.  A couple hours out and we didn't get anything, but the fish bug is on and he's waiting to go back out again!

Bummer about no fish.  Getting out is good for the soul.  I have been without a trolling motor for the last couple weeks.  I tried to fix it, to no avail.  Was able to make a warranty claim with Newport and got news today it was approved!  Will be getting the new TM soon and hope to get out next week,

I fished from shore yesterday from about 5:45am until around 8am.  Had 2 sniffs/misses on the little popper and nothing else.  Carp were going crazy in the grass.

If you were closer, I'd give you my TM.  It's practically new and really  really nice.....let me know if your replacement doesn't work out.

Like Charlie Brewer used to say - sometimes, dem fish just got lock jaw.

But you got out, kayaked in some nice water, and did your best.  You two won!
