8-1 Report

Launched from Point Lookout State Park at dawn. Wind was howling out of the North so we headed across the little bay and fished the high tide marsh grasses hoping find reds or trout. Had a few pull downs on a popping cork but no hook ups. Changed over to small spinner baits and caught some nice perch. Livewell had 5 big ones 10 to 11 inchers in it so we left and ran all the way up to St Marys river looking for fish. Found a few convict bass in the 14 inch range but nothing else.

Plan C on a windy day

Re: 8-1 Report

Just spent the entire month of July at Dennis Point on Cartgena Cr. Off the St Mary's. Not a single perch caught, no stripers seen either. Two different locals report no perch to be had, and last year's abundant stripers aren't around either.
Still a great time. many crabbing trips all followed by ayce crab feasts. Had to break down and buy bloodworm to catch spot for crab bait. Tried all of the "cheaper" stuff, but needed bloods to get the job done.
Saw Fishamajig Dennis on the 4th. He showed me pics of recent spec catches right around the corner from the marina, but they weren't interested in the perch jigs either.

Re: 8-1 Report

I saw a report that the oxygen levels have been at all-time lows due to rains and runoff.

Re: 8-1 Report

It's been tough times all over from what I've been reading and experiencing....except for the small mouth river guys!

Shouldn't you be taking up pickleball and irritating the neighbors or something. hahaha!!
