The reason I ask is because I missed a few snakeheads yesterday....
One due to my blank mindset and being jittery I set the hook immediately and the hook wasn't in the mouth.
The other two I lost because the hook I had set up just wasn't positioned right even after waiting for it to take it in. I'm talking one of the snakeheads was directly below my yak when I set the hook and the entire lure came flying out of it's mouth. The second one I allowed to take a lot of line and when I went to set the hook it also flew out.
This is a representation of my rig.

What size hook Paul?
I get the ones like George pours...

I wonder if I'm using the wrong size hooks. Too small. I size it to the plastic, but I'm thinking I need to go 7/0 for snakehead. Pretty sure I'm using 3 and 4/0 now.

I think the biggest we used was 5/0.
You using braid with 20lb leader (Capt. Mike’s recipie)?

Yes! Braid with flouro leader 20 lbs. I'll switch to 5/0 and match with a larger swimbait. I was getting hit on the white color, so I know I'm doing something right, but that last most important part of getting the hookup (no pun intended) just wasn't working for me.

I use a 2/0 or 3/0 Mustad 91568-BLN on Keitec 4.5 to 5" swim baits with no problems

Got it. The shank looks to be long on these providing a wider area for the hook set. I will try a couple different setups and see how it goes. I actually have forgotten to go with the PoP'R also. I really have to do a better job working through my lures. If not, they'll all end up being on Ernies fundraising table still in packages!

If you want to try any of my hand pours, check with Ernie on where his fundraising table will be

No more fundraiser tables in the foreseeable future. All donated fishing stuff now goes to the High School or Wounded Heroes events.

that's better than a jewelry box.....specifically, some the of the girls in my family have been rummaging through my gear because "they (lures) are pretty and can be turned into earrings."
