Reservoir Park – March 1: Seasonal water access open ; March 29: Boat rentals open

Public water access to Beaverdam Reservoir at Reservoir Park and the Mt. Hope launch location will re-open on Saturday, March 1. Hikers are encouraged to begin their hike at Reservoir Park.

Boat Rentals at Reservoir Park will open on Saturday, March 29 at 9:00am.

More good info: Reservoir Park and Beaverdam Reservoir serve as a practice facility for 6 local scholastic rowing teams. The spring sports season starts in late February and runs through the end of May. Park guests and boaters can expect to see the teams on the water, Monday through Friday from 4:45 p.m. until 30 minutes prior to sunset. The teams also practice on Saturday mornings when not attending regattas.

Fire-rescue went out to the reservoir today. A kayak with three people overturned in the Alford Rd area. I know two were kids. Sounded like they weren't too far off shore. I think all either got back in on their own or were assisted by other people in the area before the rescue crews did anything. Leesburg's swiftwater was sent to the Reservoir Rd side and launched their boat, probably after everything was already done. Might as well get in some training since they're already there.

I wonder if it was a rental. Rentals may increase the likelihood of inexperienced boaters having issues on the res.
