Fall started slow for me on account of the unseasonably warm weather, but really came on strong in the last month. My target, and 95% of my catch, is speckled trout but I also got some reds and very few stripers. Since November I've been catching most fish on my homemade lures and am getting some jigging soft plastics too. The absence of schoolie stripers from their usual shallow water haunts is concerning. This is the third straight Fall where I've caught fewer than 5 in an entire season. That used to be an average day even when I wasn't targeting them.
But in positive news, there are a lot of very large specks in the mid to lower bay right now. We just have to hope for no severe cold snaps so they make it through the winter.

Man, I love those yellow teethy mouths! Well done and thanks for shinning some light to the Forum.

Some amazing specks there! That one looks like Nosferatu! Great post.
Unfortunately, looks like we will get a very cold snap the second week in January. Hope they make it.

Next week's weather isn't promising . When water temps stay below 40 for 3 consecutive days the trout start to die. Hoping the forecast bumps up a couple degrees.
