10-30-24, UP

Today I fished with Chris Campo (who I've know his entire life) and Trent Jones (who I have fished with several times). We fished out of Chris' new raft.

We started late because Trent had early PT to try to unfreeze his frozen shoulder. But still, Trent threw the long rod all day.

Target species were:

1. Walleye
2: Musky
3. Smallies

In that order!

It was a bit after 10a when we put in and all 3 of us left the jackets our vehicles. Heck, maybe an hour or so into the float, we all shed our other layers.

River is low. It was 1.2’ at POR.

I scored fairly quickly with this little guy.

And then Trent got this nice one on a fly!

I caught a couple more, they were in the 12" class.

Then, Chris says, "throw towards that tree". So I did and I got the distinct walleye bite and we were able to land this one.

It was nice but not as nice as the one George caught a couple of weeks back.

Chris got in on the action as well.

Now, we were in musky territory. Trent was throwing a 10wt with a HUGE fuzzy fly. Chris, once again, said, "throw over there". And sure enough, a mucky comes out of no where and starts following the fly. Trent tried to stay calm and quiet (it is quite a rush seeing one). But the fish took off. Both Trent and Chris saw it and we were exited but there were no more musky sightings.

We floated out of the musky hole and we caught a few more smallies but with the water being crystal clear and super low (and blue bird skies), it was a tough day for smallies. We caught 8 or so and had fun with them.

A great day on the water indeed!

Those walleye would make anyone's day.  Especially on a fly rod

Beautiful day to be out on the water

Only the smallie came on the fly rod (Trent). And almost the musky. Chris and I threw the spinning rod.
