I had the idea of trying the newly opened Edwards Ferry ramp to avoid the crowds and try some different water. I got there about 7am and as I was getting everything ready, guys with 2 bigger boats pulled up. I was the first to launch and there was some fog on the water still. There is a big drop at the end of the cement ramp which surprised me but did no harm. I was able to launch and head to my first spot with no issues. No bites there as I watched 4 boats head upriver. It was definitely more crowded than I had hoped.
I floated out of my first spot and finally got the skunk out with a tiny smallie. I had another one on, but it came off before I got it in. The sun felt nice after the cold start. I was watching 3 boats work all the spots I was thinking about hitting next. The water was still stained and the grass is really starting to come loose now.
I decided to run upriver and hit a spot below Whites Ferry with no bites. I finally decided to run up and was able to get through the rapids with no issue. There were boats above and below me. I finally settled above the Ferry area and worked the shoreline. It looked like this:

I ate my sandwich and was able to get some bites with the big TRD dragged over rocks. I got 3 little smallies up to 12.5 inches and broke off on what I thought was a bite. Talked to another guy who was trying squarebill cranks and he was not having much luck either.
I spot jumped for a while after that with no bites. Ran to the creek and it was full of leaves. Then I ran further down to an area with current, some rocks that made swirls and less stuff loating. Got 2 on the big TRD just drifting over the area. First was a hard fighting chunk that gave an epic jump..

Then I got another one a little further down after missing a couple bites. I never changed my wool gloves from the morning, LOL.
I called it after that and was off the water by 2:30pm. At the ramp I talked to a guy who was out in his Reverpro Jet. Not sure if he was a guide. He said they caught a couple dozen on creature baits, swim baits with spinners, spinnerbait and jerk bait. He said they got one 20"er. So, I was obviously not doing something right.
Without spot lock or electronics to see the bottom I do what I can.
Now, for the fun part. I programmed Waze to get home ant it wanted to take me 270 to the beltway. I said no way, so started going the way I came. Turns out they had 28 closed at the Monocacy bridge after an accident there. Waze had everyone driving down gravel roads and dead ends. I got to see the countryside and Mountains in Montgomery and Frederick Counties and it took 2 hours to get home. So much for a new plan.

Ha
Waze took my wife & I on a 1.5 hour detour through the back country of SW VA. Wife got to drive in mud and slippery dirt roads. I told her whatever you do don't let off on the gas or slam on the breaks.
Waze does know where the accidents and traffic jams are.
Son keeps bugging me to try Google Maps since everything on the internet connects up with it

Never doubt WAZE. When it gives me weird directions I try to trace the route to see what the issues is.
Glad you caught some.
I bet those boats were going up to the Dickerson/Monacacy area. I’ve seen some impressive reports from up that way

Nice report! That part of MD does have some nice scenery this time of year.

Very impressive of you to work it hard like that. You're dealing with other boats with who knows how much in electronics.
Side note. I followed waze all the way out to iowa and back and it was 100% accurate all the way. I even use it when I'm just running out to the local lowes/home depot because you never know.
