River 9/2/24

Actually 9/3.  My plan was to get on the water at first light.  I had set the alarm for 5am, but I guess I either did not turn it all the way on or the batteries died in my alarm.  Anyway, I got to the ramp about 7am and ran into Ernie and Bev.  Bev was nice enough to help me with my rope at launch.  That ensured I would not get wet to start out.

I ran up a bit and got the skunk off with a topwater fish on the chug bug.  Must have landed on his head.

After trying some different lures, I ended up catching 5 on a very small swimbait.  All small fish.

I decided to make a run.  I was struggling to get bit for a while.  I ran up further but the water was getting more stained.  I went back some and floated.
I figured out they would hit the Maxscent flatworm.  I caught some on that and the Z-Man trick shotz.  Mostly dinks.

But a couple over 12 inches.

Then I hooked something heavier.  I thought it was a smallie until it was about at the boat.  Flathead, which I dispatched.

After that I would catch fish sporadically all on those two lures.  I tried a subwart crankbait with no success.  The day was beautiful and I enjoyed being out.  Here is my second biggest.

Caught most fish mid-river near rocks or deeper water.  Got off the river just before 3pm and had about 20 little smallies and the one catfish total for the day.

Nice report! I hear flatheads are good eating. If I ever catch one I'm gonna find out.

that's a good report!  Sounds like you were busy the entire time between the flow and catching.  How about them cats....good frying size.

Nice action! Agree with the guys, would love to eat that fella!

Yesterday was a 4 star day (solunar). Glad the fish cooperated.

Even though they were smaller, it's still a good day of fishing. Nice and done
