After being in TX last week, I was itching to get on the water this week. Wednesday and Friday were the scheduled dates but Debby is going to rain on that parade. 

I emailed George and Leon to see if they could switch Wednesday for today and they both said yes so off we went!

It was very foggy as we rolled in to our 1st stop, the Chaptico Market.  We went for their breakfast sammie of potato bread, cheese, egg and a hunk of their home made sausage. As always, they were delicious and filling.

We splashed the boat at 8a and made a quick stop at the creek but the water has already run out of it (high tide was at 4:15a). I think a couple of us got the skunk off there but they were teeny so no pics. We were still a couple of hours from low tide but it was super shallow already so we made a beeline for White's Bar.

There was another fella fishing there but there's plenty of water for all of us.

We picked off a fish here and there...





... but it was not hot fishing like it normally is. Hmmmm!

Since my depth finder is still in dark mode, I was running blind but I know that bar pretty well. And when I erred, the TM would tell me it was too shallow.

At the bar, we caught some other species along with perch.







Some of the perch were 9"+!



I kept telling the guys (maybe 5 times, maybe 10) that we would fish for 5-10 more minutes and then move, unless we were catching. Every time I said it, we would catch a few so we would stay longer.

BTW, it stayed cloudy for a good part of the morning. And while it got warm at times, we didn't feel the heat until we were back in the parking lot at the ramp.

We caught a bunch but it was not rapid fire. Then MD DNR came to pay us a visit and they almost got stuck on the bar. They were nice folks and we were happy to see them. We had a nice chat while they checked all the necessary requirements. The best part was when I showed them my Fire Extinguisher. Everything was good except the handle was rusting away. I kept it out and will replace it. They were happy that George had caught a flounder.

Most of the perch we caught at the Bar were golden with a few lack backs mixed in. UL fishing at its finest!

The big fish of the day was Leon's striper. It was easily 20" and he fought it perfectly. Once I got it in the net and to the boat, I noticed it was covered in lesions and scrapes so we did not take a pic and returned it to the water immediately. Leon did a great job controlling it.

Finally, we moved from the spot (yes, we left them biting)! We had the very light wind to our back as we went to the next target but when we got there, we noticed that the wind picked up (SW) and was it making it difficult for me to keep the boat in good position. As well, there was no water near the shore line. The tide stayed low all morning!

We caught a bunch more here and there but the wind was a PIA so I moved in to Mrs. Wolf's Cove but there was little water in there. But little to no wind. Still, we caught a bunch more. Silver ones!

We then moved out to one of my favorite points but we had no water and some wind and waves. Made boat handling difficult so I was starting to lose interest...and I was getting hungry. We caught some more in a 100 yd. stretch and finally called it at 12:45p.

Oh, I forgot. When George caught his flounder, I kept telling him to keep the head in the water as they will spit the hook in an instant. He did that and I was able to net it. When I caught my flounder, it was a little bigger and George asked me if I wanted the net. I said, "na, I'll just flip it in". As soon as the head came out of the water, the hook came flying out! . No one to blame but me! George said, "what's this about keeping the head in the water?". Eat crow Rojas!

All told, we caught white perch, striper, puppy drum, spot, croaker and flounder. George wanted to add an oyster that he cought!

Boat retrieval was a little gnarly but George said I did a good job. It was tense as I had to fight to keep the boat in the right line as the waves  and wind was trying to derail me. One thing about a jet vs a prop  is that you tend to slide more as nothing is digging in for propulsion.

But we knew we were about to have a good lunch!

The ride back was smooth but a little slow at times but we always kept moving. After rinsing off the boat at George's, I put it in the barn. Once home, the shower never felt so good!
