I got out early on the 4th to make sure I got home early.  Got this nice SH and was my best this year.  Not my largest, but it was fun bringing it in.  I have the freezer stocked now and have been trying different recipes, but I have to admit that I really enjoy it breaded and fried more than others.
I've been really enjoying the kayak also as it makes my time on the water better fishing time instead of struggling to position all the time.  And, throwing it in the bed of the truck with an extender is way more easier than throwing it up on top of the truck!

Final note is that I went out on boat Sunday and it was nice early (9 am) since there were only fisherman out there, but the main river was really choppy with some white caps.  I didn't have any issues in it, but I wondered how any of the deck boats and pontoons would fair....probably a pretty rough ride.  On the way back in I went along the shoreline to see how things looked with the grass and hydrilla and of course I ran into an abandoned fishing net.  I was fortunate to find small scissors in my first aid kit and cut away the net (thank goodness for the swim platforms to be able to sit there and work on the prop).  Time to get serious and put a small tool box on the boat.  I always do that, but with this being a new boat I never got around to it last season.
