I was a couple weeks away from being drafted.  Mom said she's fight it because I was an only child.  Dad spent time in Korea, Gitmo, and Nam and was quiet.  I would have gone

Funny how those who have no perspective in national security think we need a draft.  No military background or interest.  Never sacrificed a thing for the country just talk and waving the flag.  DoD never said we needed a draft.  Every male enters into the selective service....that's it.  People say things or repeat things and they don't even know what it means.  We have way too many ignorant people who are simply LAZY and don't want to do their own research when we are at a time when there is so much education available to them.  Instead they listen to comedians who are now talk show hosts and think they know it all.  Ridiculous how stupid so many are.  Don't get me started on some idiot I ran across on youtube who spent 4 years in the Marines and now has a thing that says "A Marines view on XXXX," once a Marine, always a Marine, but 4 years doesn't give you the experience or judgment to cast on others when we have spent 20-35 yrs in service!!!!

I'm out there and I see active duty military from all branches and the coast guard and I can say without a doubt that they are way better equipped and more knowledgeable about tactics and operations than the generations before.  I don't care about the shmucks who sit at home with mom and dad, they're not the ones who put on the uniform (except in a video game hahaha).  But, we have a problem with our younger generations....of course.  we always do and this one seems to care about social media, zero effort, and entitlement.  That was the same language of my generation too except for social media.  You'll see though, the best of them will rise to the top as we all did.  I think we have to focus on the good ones around us and not the bad ones being projected via the media.

I couldn't agree more.  I'm not so worried about those who are in their 30's, still live at home and don't work because they are only doing it to themselves.

On occasion, I see a young'n that gives me hope. 

We have a very young black girl who started collecting our trash about three years ago.  About a year ago, she started driving the truck.  I give them drinks on these hot days, so we've gotten to talk a few times.  Here she is, mid-20's, worked hard, stayed away from drugs and now is making about $80k/annually. 

My son is in Europe now finishing up his PhD in Organic Chemistry.  Been busting his butt since he got out of high school. Was a CSI agent for the State of WY for a couple years until he decided to get a PhD.

One of my son's friends took over his mother's real estate company.  In his spare time he's a thespian.  Not only is he making decent $$'s, he's also volunteering for the local playmakers in his spare time.

Another one of his friends is a travel nurse.  She picks the jobs she wants to do and travels to work them.  Very flexible time schedule when she's not on the job.  Makes good $$$'s too.

One of my HVAC peoples in his mid 20's, owns a home, and is getting as many certifications as he can to start his own company.  I'm sure he'll be successful. 

I have hope!
