I was on the water a little after 5am.  Tried a couple casts with a black jitterbug.  Had one swipe at it, but it was not the best with the current sweeping it downstream.  Water was very low, but grass had not grown in yet.  Switched over to the trick shotz and got bit after a couple casts.



A couple casts later, I got this chunk.



I noticed my line was getting a little frayed, but figured I would give it one more cast.  Bites were not hard, but saw the line moving.  Set the hook and it felt like a good one.  After about 3 jumps, I was able to walk the fish to shore around rocks, into a little deeper water.  It was a strong fish that was hard to hold onto.  It was at least 18 inches and pretty heavy, so I weighed it.  Came out to 3.88 pounds.  I revived it and released into deeper water.



I switched rods and used a flatworm on a sled head.  Got one chunk.



The first boat to launch came up on the inside of the island.  I figured that might shut down the bite.  Then a lady in a kayak paddled right where I was fishing.  I said good morning as she was silent.  She finally replied when I said it again.  I just shook my head as she continued past.  There was one more canoe that at least steered away from me as they trolled upriver. 

Sunrise was nice.



I fished until 6:45am, but no more bites.  Home by 7:05.
