When Bev and I were emailing back and forth, he asked me where we were going. Hmmmm....
I called him and before I could speak he said, "let's get a breakfast sammie at the Filling Co., then we can go out of Algonkian and run up river and catch them up. We can be done at mid day and then head over to Cubasi Bistro for a Cuban sammie". Who can argue that plan?? ![]()
So...we were on the water at 7ish but we had a delay. A fella in a jet ski was trying to get the boat started but it seemed that his battery was weak...or dead. After chatting to try to figure it out, we towed him back to the ramp as he had drifted down a bit. God deed for the day! Check!
We started up close and I had Bev throwing top water but we got no sniffs. I was able to get the skunk off the boat.
We then headed up to where Bob and I caught some last week...
... but the river had dropped almost a foot since then. Kinda took the spot away but I was able to land a other one.
Now it was time to go up river a bit more and it did not take long for Bev to take his skunk off!

Lots of birds, squirrel and carp scurrying around today.
Finally, we went all the way up (just a hair chilly).
Fish were in eddies mostly. I did have one on that seemed bigger but we never saw it before he got off.
For the next couple of hours, we caught some smallies!

The last hour or so was slow. The water was too low where I wanted to focus. But we managed a couple more before quitting time and we were tied at 6 each.
Right before we ended, I got slammed by Mr. Slimie!

It was time to go so down river we went. It was a great, comfortable ride back.
We put the boat up and away and we were of to Cubasi Bistro where we had another great lunch!
We split the Cuban Sammie. They are HUGE!
Speaking if HUGE (a politician says that a lot), there is a major golf (LIV) tourney going on at Trump's golf course on Lowes Island. We could see the tents and TV platforms.
Home by 2:30p...can't beat that!

Last I heard Bev was ahead 5 to 4
Interesting how fishing plans are made around food. I like it. The food that is. And the plan
Smallies all look healthy and there's smiles on the anglers faces

We didn't find the biggies but all of them were feisty, especially in the current. It was a blast!

BTW, the river is really skinny! Dipped under 2' at POR today.

It was a beautiful day on the river. I always enjoy fishing with the master. I have learned so much from Ernie on the best ways to fish. I've come a long way from my days as a kid fishing with a zepco and night crawlers. Even with his type a personality (lol), Ernie always has patience in his teaching. Can't wait until our next adventure. Fish on!!!!!!!!

Great stuff, guys! I went to Fountainhead and it was frustrating. No boat or ramp issues though. Caught 1 little one. Nice day to be on the water. I might get my canoe out soon for some topwater if the river stays skinny.

Bev was casting to targets before I could get the words out...

I don't see much rain in the near future...![]()
A friend of mine floated Brunswick to Lander yesterday and this was part of his report: " Fish were cooperative, and I had a nice topwater bite going through 11:00. I had 10 blowups on a Rebel Pop-R, landing 5 of those, including two just over 16 inches and a couple of 14 inchers."
