Fly Fishing - 1 Day Class

A few months ago I won a free 1 day Fly Fishing/Casting class with Dusty Wissmath.  He runs a school/guide service based at Whitetail Resort in PA (about 1.5 hrs from Ashburn).  I finally had the time to do the course today.  I just wanted to tell everyone that I was very impressed with the entire course, Dusty, and the set up he has at Whitetail.  We started at 9am and went till 4pm.  He provided breakfast and lunch.  His office/school has 3 big ponds in the back yard and looks right onto Whitetail Mountain.  Really amazing.  We did 4 casting sessions on the ponds, about 30 minutes each.  And 4 classroom sessions explaining the casting techniques and also going over the basics of Fly Fishing.  They did an great job of simplifying all of the casting techniques (roll casting, standard fly casting, false presentation, single/double haul casting), explained the mechanics of the equipment (learned some interesting things that made casting make a little more sense), and discussed knots.  After a day with them my knowledge and skill in fly fishing has increased 100%.

Dusty is a great guy and excellent at what he does.  He made everything low pressure, simple, and really enjoyable.  At the end of the day we got rained out for the last 15 minutes of casting practice.  So, Dusty tells me that I can come for the day 2 (out on the private streams applying everything I learned) FOR FREE since I didn't get the complete first day.  I ONLY MISSED OUT ON 15 MINUTES!!!!

I highly recommend this course.  He offers 1 and 2 day courses (2nd day is out on private streams).  It is about $240 per day.  He also guides.  I can imagine that he is a great person to be fishing with all day.
