i never mentioned fishing cedar last week, when a couple a lady walkers staring caught my attention...
i stepped around the way a bit, and saw the object.
a mallard kept trying to leave the bank, only to be dragged back as if by an unseen hand.
i ambled over, perused the oddity for a moment, the approached the hectic duck.
i found a stand of red braid, wrapped about a bit of shore debris, leading out to the flapping and helpless waterfowl.
i gently drew the bird as close as i dared, while it quacked and carried on in ducklish, then cut the nasty bit of line several inches short of the cinch point on the duck's leg .
i was concerned getting any closer might drive the frantic fellow into injuring itself.
i hope that bit of line comes off somehow. it was the best i could manage at the moment

That should serve as a valuable reminder to all to throw your line away. Cutting and leaving it endangers the local habitat.

yeah, i've seen pictures of heron hanging from trees that weren't pretty.
