I decided to hit Alder today after a nice Sunday dinner with the wife. I was throwing a frog and a jig and ended up with four fish. Nothing to call home about...........except this new Alder record!
5lb 12oz!!!!!
Sorry for the one blurry picture...you know how it is with adrenaline coursing through you!

Floating frog or just under the surface? Fast or slow retrieve?
We want to know it all....except the exact sopt that fish was laying in!
I have yet to catch a 5 pounder (by my scale) but I will keep trying (and get a new scale).

I was working the frog beneath the surface. I would twitch and reel, then let it float down, twitch and reel, then let it float down. The fish was caught in skinny water.

Nice!!! I've never caught anything on a frog before, I'm hoping to this summer!

even toyed with the technique, but neverstayed w/ it

interesting too that your success blows all of my theories about the day out of the water.
i would not have expected a big fish to be shallow on that day
of course it was a different body of water, but not by much
i havnt even seen bluegills shallow since last week (other than the really small ones )

I was thumbing through this June's Bassmaster Magazine and flipped back to the Lunar Tables. I tend not to lend too much credence to them, but Sunday the 21st was the second best lunar day to fish. Yesterday, apparently, was the best. Interestingly enough, the best times to fish according to the tables were late morning into the early afternoon. I caught my fish at 830pm. I believe this theory is well associated with most bass theories. There is never going to be a specific time on a monthly calendar or annual calendar that is better than others, for example, four hours on Monday, but instead, it is a period of 3-5 days that carry similar characteristics that fish respond to. This of course is not mutually exclusive to changing weather conditions.

I HAVE TRIED WORKING W/ THE SOLUNAR TABLES, and found no distinct correlation b/t the predictions and my performance on the water.
i think low pressure, wind, and cloud cover are more influential factors
