I fished for 40 minutes early this morning and got three fish on three different soft baits (Zoom lizard in a brownish color, Case fluke in a reddish color and a BA in pearl). I also missed to fish who did not quite have the hook in their mouth. I was using the circle hook, 2/0.
They were all 1 pound punks but very feisty!
I also used a buzz bait for a bit but I got impatient with it.

Round 2- I grabbed a couple of single plastics that I have had laying around then I whet the line while on a conference call. The nice thing was that I caught 5 fish (punks) in 45 minutes.
One came using this lure (no clue to what it is).....
....and then I lost it when a fish bit it (but not the hook).
Then I caught four using this one....
Maybe I can get out later.....

First lure looks like a lake fork magic shad. One of my favorite soft plastics!!! I fish it with a 5/0 EWG hook skin hooked. Swimming it back, jerking it, jigging it...rarely fails me!

These are the types of posts I expect from a guy who lives on the water!
That's a good challenge....I need to do more of this. The guy that hosted the call know I was out back fishing and kept making subtle references to it. No one else had a clue.

And I caught two nice (a step up from a punk) blue fish on a reddish Zoom lizard before I got interrupted by another call....I will try again later!

Thinking about it, it may have been a Storm lure that BassMasterP gave me. It has a very nice swim action....I will need to get a few more but I am concentrating on using up some of this old tackle that I have that just sits here. It's nice to see the fish eating whatever I am throwing to them although no pigs have taken the hint!

It took me four tries to finally nab this guy on a chatter bait....
What was he thinking?
I did catch a few more on soft plastics using the same baits as before.
Curly was out there throwing a small spinner bait and was catching a bunch of punk wannabees!

Recognize this guy?
I know some of you have caught him....who has?
I had another 40 minutes or so between dinner and birthday cake for Dave (23). I hooked six ....one on an LC Pointer SP...less than a pound. Missed another one on the same lure.
Then I caught a little punk on the Zoom lizard and the a nice one that literally took the bait as I lifted it out of the water next to the grass. He came up and then fell off the hook...a little nudge and he was back in the water.
I then switched to a pearl 3.5' Fluke and caught three nice ones like the one in the picture. All were close to 2 pounds and all were caught a little deeper than usual. I also lost a nice one close to shore....operator error. I did switch from braid to mono....not sure if it made a difference.
I also saw a fly rodder catch some nice blue gills as well as a nice bass!
Nice day of fishing.....I need to do this more often!

So....the big catfish that Jeffie caught is now called Walter.
What do we call Mr. Spots up above.....that's it.....Mr. Spots!

I know of a few Potomac bass that made it to Cedar. As well, there are other Potomac bass that have made it to other lakes. Glad to see them enjoying their new homes!

There are a few fish in Pavilion with the markings as well. Perhaps we can start a competition (I know, I am always conjuring up these competitions), but the person who catches, PHOTOGRAPHS, and counts the greatest number of spots on a bass gets to officially name him/her and that name will carry on as the family name for all marked bass.
Who's with me?!

Can we start yesterday? Josh will like that!
Although spot numbering is usually reserved for red drum, I think we can make a go of it. If you get a few to respond, write it up amd I will put it as a Sticky in the AV Lakes board.
