John set up a trip for us with Capt. Travis of King Fisher Guide Services.
From reports, it seemed like the bite on the river has really been on so I had high hopes and super excited!
It was a breeezy morning and the wind was absolutely brutal at some points. It made keeping our hats on a challenge
Overcast skies with the sun making short appearances here and there. It was a day where the jackets were on and off and on again.
John was on the fly and I was throwing a fluke style weighted lure. John hooked up pretty quickly with a few nice fatties...I dont have any of his pictures haha but here's me!
We were able to catch a good number but I wonder how many I missed.
This was my best of the day at around 17.5" and it hit a tube as soon as the lure hit the water. it was tough for me to keep the slack out of the line after a cast. The wind just carried the line and I'm sure I missed a few bites because of this. We saw a few big girls chasing and cruising with one that was HUGEEEE. I tried to bring her over for John to flick his fly at but it was 'amateur hour' apparently haha
I love these types of floats and look forward to going out again. It was great to see the quantity and quality of smallies in the river. Not many dinks for us and they were all FAT. Ended the trip with about 50 boated. I had that one big smallie. I think john had two or three at that size.
