LKA 12-21

We've had 4" of rain in the past 2 weeks which has really messed up the fishing.  Nothing but muddy water up by my house and 2-3 miles down lake.  Got out this afternoon for a couple of hours of trolling.  After an hour or so my way back rod starts squealing and I think it is hung up.  Then it starts acting like a big fish is on.  I try to make up some line, but no luck.  Quickly get the other 5 rods in and have to follow the fish making up some line.  Thought it must be a massive hybrid!  Get it near the boat finally and see that it is hooked in the gullet.....not the mouth.  No wonder it fought so hard.  Net the fish and it looks like a bay striper.  Measured 28 " but extremely fat.

Very rare to catch a fat striper like that in LKA.......they are usually a thin profile.  Checked the stomach and only one, half digested gizzard shad in it.  Not my biggest LKA striper, but fought tougher than any 30" fish I've caught here big_smile .
