It does not feel like February. I was on the water and really enjoyed the nice day. The water was clear except near creek inflows, and we did not get as much of a rise as I hoped.
Fishing was slow until 12:30pm. Then, while floating out of an area I was anchored, I got bit. I missed the fish and then threw back in and got this fat 18"er.
The wind was keeping me in the area and so I tossed out a tube and got a hit, but missed. Then tossed back and got this chunky 15"er.
I decided to circle around and I got bit and I broke the hook on the hookset. I stayed in the area and got this 14.5" on a ned.
A while later I caught a 12 incher on the ned and then broke one off on the hookset. I should have re-tied or checked my knot. It was almost 3:00pm, so I decided to float out before heading back. The breeze was slowing my drift and I tossed the ned in some deeper water where I knew some rocks were and was just tightlining. After a minute, I felt pressure on the line and set the hook. It felt like a nice fish. After a good fight, I netted this fat 18.75"er that did not want to lay flat.
I ended up with 5 caught and at least 4 hits or break-offs missed. There was another insect hatch that was similar to the ones I saw last week. Brown and about 1/2 to 3/4" long. Gulls were on the water again. Awesome day on the water!

Nice...way better that the one you were hoping for!
I think they need that 2-3dF rise before they get feisty. Could have slept in again!
May have to uncover the boat for an afternoon trip before winter comes back in a couple of weeks...

Bump still forecasted tomorrow. I was surprised how clear the main river was. I did not get up too early, just got up with Christian and took my time. You are right though, the water had dropped below 40.
