After a brief unexpected delay, Greg and I got on the water to do some smallie fishin'!
We did get a chance to chat with Rich Johnson of Osprey Charters. He was waiting on his client.
Greg got to take the skunk off the boat around 7:30a with a top water catch!
I then got my skunk off (not on top water)!
We caught 4-5 fish here and when we knew it was OK to go, we ran up river a bit.
I was chatting with Greg about John catching 4 fish on a spinner bait last week so he decided to throw one (his favorite thing to do). I said, "wait...there is no wind"! He didn't listen or care and on his 3rd cast, he hooks in to a FAT 15"er!!
As you can see, it was flat calm. Zero wind. He would catch a couple more on the spinner bait (or underspin).
I was having a good time catching a few...
...and then hooked into a nice 15"er!
It was in this general area where Greg and I lost some nice fish that we either saw near the boat or jumped and spit the hook. The action was good but we should have landed a few more. Oh well!
A while later, I hear, "I have a big fish on". " No, this is a really big fish!". I watched Greg do the battle and his reel was screaming. Carp or kittie!
It was 29" of pure muscle! Greg then told me that he had never caught a carp before! This one hit an underspin and spit out some baby catfish after we landed it. Earlier in the day, we had seen many carp in the shallows feasting on little ones in the grass. We went over to try to catch one but were unsuccessful.
Watching Greg fight this carp was very cool! Excellent battle...
After catching another 10 or so fish up this way, we floated some more and I think I caught 1 more fish. But we were both getting hungry especially after Greg said he wanted to try Greek Unique. Twist my arm...
We were off the water shortly after noon.
As we were taking out we ran in to some young lads launching their jet. We chatted and offered advice. They were great.
Then, some fellas backed their boat on the ramp and started working on it (changing a battery). Another car (their buddy) pulled down to unload stuff. They took up almost the whole ramp after launching their boat and a small tin boat.
I mentioned something to them and they told me to pound sand. I decided to use the native tongue and they said the same. They didn't want to be told that they should only use the ramp to launch and not to prep and repair their boat. Oh well...
Lunch was great...neither one of us could finish it.
Another great day out on water but for some reason, we saw no eagles (although we heard one).

Good stuff all around. Oh, and that carp!! Great job.
By the way, I used a jig spinner with a little tube yesterday that worked well. But there was wind.
Ramp shenanigans galore there. I hate that.

If I knew how to target them a bit better....game changer.

It's been good all year. I was ticked because I thought I was nice when I said they should not be working on the boat on the ramp. They told me off in English and Spanish!

Ernie is nicely leaving out that he caught 10 to my 5. He had a good day doing that AND running the boat. Maybe because he took the front seat this time which threw me off my game. That carp was fun to catch. For 2 seconds I thought I had a 10lb smallie on! Good Adrenalin rush. Great day all around. But a bit warm.
Food at Greek Unique is outstanding!

Correction…I took the middle seat so you could have 1st shot while we drifted!
Fun day!
Just had the rest of my Greek salad for dinner.

A carp spitting up catfish...that is wild. I can't stand people who block boat ramps like that. So inconsiderate.

Guy blocking the ramp was probably the same one I saw putting everything he caught in a cooler this morning
