Bob and I splashed the boat a little after 7a. John was already there.
We tried top water out front but all we (Bob) could muster was 3 hits.
Then we went up a short way and tried some more with no results so we took a long ride up to fish.
Glad to help the economy a bit!
It was painfully slow at 1st but Bob finally got the skunk off...
I think that one went 14.5" of fatness.
Today, what we caught fought as hard as ever. Man, what a blast!
Bob continued to catch a few more...
...and then!
A nice one that was just a hair over 19"! And over 3#!
Current and wood was the pattern.
There was a period (over an hour) where the current was slow and the fish catching was not existent!
Once we found better current, we caught some more.
I say "we" because I take all the credit for fish caught on my boat!
Finally, I got my skunk off!
This one ^ was 16.5"!
It was getting close to quitting time (actually, we were over a few minutes) and Bob hooks up again (#9 fish).
We get him in and we measure him at a hair under 19" and and over 3#.
Then, I slipped the fish back in the water and Bob advised me that I did not get a pick.
Thankfully, since it was a long battle as this stubborn fish did not want to go in the net, I did take a pick of it in the water.
Doesn't look like much but he was a bruiser.
We had a satisfying day of catching a few nice ones! Out of the 11 fish, only 2 were under 13".
Back on shore about 1:15p just as it was getting hot and muggier.

Great job! I like the beard on Bob, and I think it has brought him luck. Current in the heat is key. I only caught up to 15.5" and they are super scrappy now. Congrats on a good outing.

Great report! But what did y'all have for lunch?? I need to get on some river smallies some time. I've only ever caught them from a trout stream and they were all 9", but still fought hard!

The plan was to quit before lunch. Bob usually brings a sammie from his local deli and east it on the way home. I had a spicy chicken sammie (on the multi grain bun) form chic.

Berkley max scent flatworm got the fish. The beard was lucky enough to be the one throwing it. Also helps having a good guide.
