Since I cancelled last week's trips with Bob and George due to early morning cold temps, we made the day up by chasing pickles out of Spa Creek.
Our 1st spot, which was productive for Bob last week, produced nothing. As you can tell from the boys faces.
Bob was not happy so we decided to make the long slow ride head up river and see if we could find some pickles.
We did.
Bob's fish was 21 something inches which gave him a scorable fish for the SRRKC Pickle tourney
Fishing was not hot and heavy here so we made a couple of moves. With time running out, we got to the right place.
Her, Bob scored a near 23"er!
This fish may put him at the lead or close.
And I got a couple more, one being over 20"!
This one hit me right at the boat!
As Bob said, we we go fishing, we have a great time. When we catch a few...it even more better!
I had told them that I wanted to be off the water by 1:30p so we could get lunch and get on the road but we didn't make that time. We tired one more place but caught no more.
When George and I were driving in, we saw a Latin food truck set up at the American Legion. We agreed that we would pay them a visit if they were open on our way back.
Yep...they were open. And we were HUNGRY!!
The young lady taking orders spoke no English but that's not an issue when I am around. She was relieved when I spoke to her in Spanish.
George wanted tongue tacos but they were out so he ordered steak tacos (4 for $12).
I order 2 carnitas tacos and 2 chorizo tacos ($10).
Holy cow they were good! That's about all we talked about on the way home. I even mentioned that we should go back and get some take out but the traffic was already a bear so the memory has to live on!
The day started with the temps at 45df and ended with them at 75df. Water temps were 55-58df. We saw very few clouds but lots of herons and a couple of AWAC turboprops flying around.
Great day!
