Went out back for a few before the rain came in. Was throwing a 4wt.
The target was BGs but a few bass were playing. No pics.
I did hook into a nice bass but when he jumped, he spit the fly out. I suspect it was in the 1-2lb range. Nice tug.
Then, using a brand new home made fly, I hooked into a rock. Then it moved and I was able to land this 10"er red ear!
Beast!!
I got another couple of hits and then got some major pullage. I hooked a nice size snapping turtle in the foot. It was too heavy to lift so I broke of. I'm hoping that the barb less hook will slip off his foot later. I did see another one eating by the shore line. He was eating one of the snails. Crushed it and ate it.
The red winged blackbird couple was not happy with me fishing near their nest...

I don't have any...cicadas nor cicada flies!
It's almost time for top water but the BGs are spawning and holding to their territory.

Finally heard some cicadas in Ashburn Village on my bike ride today. But they were really singing on the way to Leesburg!
