I had a pretty light day and wrapped up my calls by 11AM, so I called my dad to go fishing after lunch. We got to the launch parking lot and I there was only 1 trailer there, I guess the wind kept people from the water today, but I knew we'd find protection back in the far left arm.
My dad struck first with a crankbait, it was a decent sized 8" yellow perch.
I had an ultralight with a small underspin and I connected twice, but I each one got off. I felt that the UL and 8lb mono was just not getting enough of a good hookset so I changed up to a rod with braid and that did it trick and I finally brought in a good 2lb largie.
There were a ton of people fishing from the bank and my guess is that they were going for spawning crappie, because I got this guy on a 3" underspin, a nice 11" crappie that we let go.
We ended up with about 6 small yellow perch. My dad caught the largest one, but for some reason they're all just very undersized in this lake.
I also caught this greedy guy on the underspin as well. I also threw a popper and the only action I got on it was these greedy green sunfish nipping at the tail feathers.
I turned out to be a decent trip, at the ramp we saw 3 kayakers pull up and they had been skunked, but they didn't get as far back into the cove as we did.
