Bill and I met up at Riverbend at 7:30a, we we using his boat.
It was a very nice morning out (yes, I said that) even though it was a chilly 40df at the start. No wind.
But it was chillier as we ran up river, luckily, we didn't go far at 1st.
We stopped at many of Bill's known fishy spots and we fished.
...and fished.
...and fished
...and fished some more!
How can there be no fish in theses places?
Yep...we eventually got to Senaca Breaks and could see the Trump Golf Course flag...
Up here, Bill did an Ernie and smacked a rock and busted his TM prop. Luckily, he carries a spare (like I do now) and we beached the boat to replace it. He got his tools out and immediately breaks a screwdriver. The plastic handle simply gave in and broke.
After a few minutes. we were back in business so we decided to eat lunch. I think it was just after 11a. The Jersey Mike subs were good. They were made by former Broad Run HS Fishing team members or their family. Good stuff. This is at the location at Ashbrook Commons.
After lunch, we started drifting back and fished some more.
Up to this point, we have not felt a bite! And Bill kept saying, "we cannot come home with a skunk"!
We did do some exploring and found some more wannabe honey holes but nothing.
The wind kicked up 3-4 times but it never sustained so it only bothered us for a few minutes at a time.
It is now around 1:25p and Bill and I are fishing but doing more chatting than catching. Then, he says, "wait, that's a bite" and sets the hook on this SLOB of a 17"er!
Talk about a well fed fish! Must not be much competition for food...
He was using a ned rig.
A few minutes later, I connect with a nice 14"er that had some weight to it.
I had to net my own fish...
Then, while still in the same place, Bill hooks up again (all three fish in less than 10 minutes) and I could see this one was even bigger!
Once we landed it, Bill said, "that has to be over 18". So I measured it (I was shielding Bill so he could not see it) and I said, "nope, not 18". He then says, "come on, that has to be over 18"" and I said, "nope...it's not 18", it's 19.25".
We had a good laugh and were happy that we didn't have to offend anyone with a picture of Pepe Le Pew!
After dropping back off that hole, we got no more bites and finally called it a day around 2:45p as Bill had grand kid chauffeur duties later.
Great day to be out.
Glad we didn't get skunked...but we were disappointed by the lack of bites.
The fish that remain are very well fed!
Bill really knows this part of the river well.
Another great expedition!

Not sure if that was the case. We fished identical spots right above and below and got nada. The few fish were in this one hole perhaps.
We did throw everything but the kitchen sink before this but we had settled on the baits were were using for a bit.
Nice to see these fat fish in the river. Hopefully, they will spawn hard!

Not sure if it is the camera, but it looks like 2 of the fish have a cloudy eye? Hopefully not blind in that eye.
Healthy looking, other than that.

No clue...really did not notice when handling. They all looked nice and healthy. Maybe they need cataract surgery?

Nice job sticking to it
Fish look healthy - great job on the pig!
I'm thinking the cloudy eye is the camera angle and the reflection of light off the fish's eye

For the TM prop nut, I got one of these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08 … &psc=1
Depending on the TM Bill has, they have various models.
