George and I met at 9:30a and after loading up, we saw a young lady with a weird looking vessel so we stopped to chat. I wish I had taken a picture of the micro skiff she was getting ready to launch. Neat (and functional) boat. We gave her some advice and launched.
We were motoring to way up river in no time. Weather was perfect...just a little chilly on the ride up to White's Ferry.
We saw John going to one of his favorite places.
The rest of the morning was uneventful as neither of us got any bites in any of the places we tried.
After lunch (and having a chat with a yaker who had no luck so far) we went back downriver.
On the way, George pointed over to some structure and said that some guy who wrote a book really liked fishing there. After a few more seconds of running, I decided to hit the place.
We got set up and a few minutes later I felt some resistance and this heft 15.5"er came aboard. Expertly netted by George.
We then dropped down to another place and after several dozen casts, I got hit bu another fatso.
This guy was 16.25" but was board and had a nice big tail.
Both of these fish were caught using George's jigs. He was happy for me for sure!
We fished a bit more and then decided to call it a day.
On the way back, we saw John again but this time we stopped to chat a bit.
I'm glad he was behind us when we left because my measuring stick flew off the boat and John retrieved it for us. Thanks!!
The fish were very healthy, we just have to find where they are hiding in order to catch some more.
Great day to be out on the water.

Even successfully backed Ernie's trailer into the river with no distractions
