I wanted to make sure I could get Quinn out on the water before he goes back to school so we picked today due to schedules aligning. As well, I was tired of not getting out so i put on 5 layers of clothes and was prepared for it!
It started cold...right at 32df air temp at 10a!
We out in at POR (ramp was a bit muddy but not bad) and had a decision to make. Do we go up or down river. John had not fished down river much so we chose that.
We started where the water was deeper (7-10') and beat the living daylights out of the bottom! Quinn finally took the skunk off with this nice, fat mussel!
Hey! It's a live creature!!
We worked that area, the boulder field, the water intake and the best we could do was keep count of sticks caught!
I can't tell you how many times we thought...finally, a fish! But it was a stick.
We had a nice ham and cheese sammie from Wegmans and after fishing for a bit more (as the sun started to peek thorough), we called it a day,
It was 41-41df air temp when we pulled out. I'm just now warming up...
At the ramp, we met Joe who fishes out of POR a lot. He said we should have gone up. Oh well! He did tell us a few of his secret spots down river but we told him that we had visited them with no luck.
The water temp started at 38.1df and got all the way up to 38.7df!
It was great to finally get out...badly needed mental therapy. Always a blast fishing with John and Quinn!
We saw a beaver, eagles, wood peckers and scores of other birds. And trains!

That is something for you to brave those temps. Congrats on braving the elements and still having a nice time. It should get better toward the end of the week. Keep at it!

Wanted to see how y'all did. Sounds like everyone had fun
Hiked out of my normal spot this morning. Ramp's still muddy but frozen. 23dF when I started up the Jeep. Ice on top of the water in the creeks.
Brrr.

The cold knocked my out for the count last night but I recovered with a good night's sleep. I prefer it to be HOT...can always dip in the water.
Come on spring!!
