I met Jon at the dock to fish on the Rainmaker!
It was a foggy start of the day...
...but it was slick calm. Too calm...no current.
Jon just got his 36' Evans Bay boat and wanted to try to jig up some fish and and hopefully find some on top as well.
We marked a lot of fish as we went up river. we saw lots of birds but they were meandering around.
We saw quite a few trollers but all they were doing was cleaning their baits.
Neither of us gt a bite but that boat has lots of potential. Especially for when it's cold.
Finally, it was time to head back just after lunch as we both needed to be home fairly early.
On the way back, we managed to see some birds working and Jon got the skunk off the boat...
...and got the smoke on the boat!
That was it but it was interesting exploring new water and trying to figure out what the marks on the sounder were.
We both agreed that the current (lack of) put the fish in siesta mode as we just could not get them to bite.
But...we saw 3-4 eagles and the day turned out to be a spectacular one!

Jon's buddy went to the same area later in the afternoon and hammered them! Go figure...

I forgot to include this pic...
I threw out a long cast and the gull chased it but got tangled up in the line. I slowly brought him to the side to try to unravel the line form his wing. He wanted to bite my hand off but after talking nice, he let me get the job done. No damage!

Good job recusing the gull
I had a hook in a pelican once. The pelican went for an anchovies on the cast - fortunately, the deck hand on the boat was familiar with the process and able to safely remove the hook and release the bird.
