John and I met up at 6:&45a for a day of snakie and LMB chasing. It was a beautiful (but chilly) morning but once the sun came up, it warmed up nicely.
After the long No Wake, we steamed up to the honey hole!
When we got there, the tide was still coming in strong...I was pumped that we had some water because the hydrilla is really thick up there.
The only bogey was the moon. It was still up when the sun came up and this is what it must have looked like to the fish when it was dark out.
Which I believe caused this!
What a way to come back from the IL (last fishing trip was Sep. 3)...a skunk. That would be like whiffing 4 times on the ball field.
Anyway, we each may have had a bite...maybe. The water looked great, the edges looked great and we just stunk the place up.
We did see 2 kayakers who were struggling as well. They had caught 1 small LMB between them.
Later, we saw (and heard) one of them catch a small snakie right before we left. Good for him and we congratulated him.
John had an appointment in Arlington so we called it at 11:45a and started to run out. I was not paying attention and we ran over some shallow hydrilla...clogging up the jet. Good thing John has long arms!!
We finished the day with some burgers at Brickmaker's. This is becoming a favorite place when fishing out of Occoquan.

Yeah...fishing was a bit off at the ABCs this morning too. Saw your truck was gone and figured you had gone for WP.

That was the original plan but we both needed a shorter time frame of fishing...
