Went to the same spot this morning. First cast was at 5:55, wanted to get the whole incoming tide. Started off surprisingly slow for the conditions, but what do I know? First perch was hooked at 6:15, and half way to the yak the water exploded as this guy took my perch.
Had another cat try to grab a perch when I was lifting it out of the water. These things are aggressive, not like the bottom bait slurpers you're used to.
The morning was really slow till the tide started back out and someone must have rung the dinner bell. Action was non-stop from 10:30 till I quit at noon. Managed a nice upgrade for my three fish in the SRRKC standings with this nice trio of 12"ers
All fish were released alive and well (except for that unlucky first perch of the day).

Ha! It's a mess!!
Bird poop and squirrel dung all over it. Bushes growing out of it. Lots of spider webs too!

Some days, we can't keep the cats away. That's why Bob likes it when I go, I attract them.
We've each caught more than a half dozen on a trip...on UL tackle!

Good thing the salinity is way down............or you might have a bull shark (instead of a kitty) take your perch!

I had 17 cats up to 37" on Thursday and another 15 today. All were channel cats. Most nailed the lure as soon as it hit the water. The fight was a lot of fun on the ultra-lite, but it really ate into perch fishing time. It'll be nice having E there to clear them out so I can get to the main target unmolested
