Today, John and I put out in at POR (MD side). We were on the water before 7a...
We decided to run upriver and we went all the way up to the power lines.
It was the 1st time I had run the jet in this area. Lots of rocks and boulders but we managed to dodge them all!
John got the 1st fish on a sub wart.
A 13"er!!
He followed it up with another one...
...before I got my 1st one, on a Baby 1-.
Then I hooked up with what seemed to be a monster...a 14.25"er!
It's been a while since I had pullage like that.
All 4 of these came within 90 minutes. It would be a while before we would each catch one more.
But the weather was nice and there were soooo many targets that we giggled like kids.
I've floated this area in a kayak many times. You see a whole lot more in a boat.
Towards the end. John threw his bait in a back eddy (right above my hands) and got slammed! The fish was tail slapping (shallow) and it was a blast watching John bring in this nice channel cat!
We called it a day just after noon and were happy to catch some bigger fish even though the numbers are still not there.

It was great to get out on the SS Rojas again! Ernie is learning the ropes with new areas to run his boat. Good times! Fishing is still off, but we got a few.

Having a good mate aboard helped. We were in many rocky areas and we only bumped the boat once. Very fishy areas....
