The long awaited tournament results have finally arrived and it is probably going to be the longest post in forum history.
Each fisherman was to record each of their fish in inches on an index card, following the rules and regulations that were given at the beginning of the tournament. The five largest fish on each anglers card were added together to make their total for the day. Fishing went form 7 00 to 11:30 and finished with a barbecue and an award ceremony.
These results are of the youth that participated and their five greatest fish caught:
Combined fish caught: 26
Combined Inches caught: 317"
Limits Caught: 4
1st Place: Matt Merrick (bigfoot) - 70.75 inches
2nd Place: Charlie Hill (me) - 70 inches
3rd Place: Ryan Johnston - 57.5 inches
Top 3 Big Fish of the Day:
1st Place: Matt Merrick - 17.5 inches
2nd Place: John T. Hill - 17 inches
3rd Place: Charlie Hill - 16.5 inches
Medals were supplied by the VA Youth B.A.S.S. Federation Nation for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and big fish of the day
As you can see the results were VERY close!
The adult volunteers also fished using tournament rules for fun (top 2):
1st place: Curly - 78.75 inches
2nd Place: Patrick - 58.25 inches
Top three:
Matt Merrick's 15.25 inch fish:
Kate Sistare, who came in 5th with 24 inches, and a picture with her first fish:

Congratulations to all of those that participated and great job in making it a successful event. I'm bummed I wasn't able to be there personally to help out and experience the day first hand. It looks like everyone had a blast.

Very impressed by how smooth everything went for a first tournament! Hats off to Charlie and everyone else for making this event come along so great. I had a lot of fun and look forward to possibly doing more to help in future tournaments and events. It was also very nice to meet the adults that attended.

Where can you buy the Ashburn Connection?
Offline
It gets mailed to the house.....you can have mine. Maybe some of the other Ashburnites can save theirs.

Thanks...I'll ask around.

I think an early spring addition to the tournament trail is in order. It would be a great opportunity to hunt the hogs of Ashburn!

No question...Charllie has it in the works....I will just have to work with the HOA so they don't get mad at me...again!

I did not give them a "heads up" about this tourney and the fact that we potentially had "outsiders" coming to participate even though it was held out of my house. I can see their point since we advertised it.
Offline
The HOA seems to get mad about every little thing in town.
Offline
My guess is that "outsiders" are not necessarily "guests" as the fishing signs state. Oh well. Lesson learned.
Offline
Next time, we wil pre register the "guest" and they will be our friends.

Now thats the spirit!
