Bob wanted to hit one of his favorite spots on the bay, so I obliged.
1st one in the boat!
My turn next...
Then it got interesting! Bob hooks into a ray that takes us on a ride before breaking off. Then I hear more hollerin' but this time he has a keeper striper on!
His 1st of 6 stripers for the day.
Then I hook up with a brute.....
...a channel cat brute! What are they going in the bay?
This WP was almost 11"!
We caught many in the 10" range but could not break 11". But.....all in all, we only caught about 8 or nine perch today....dozen that is!
The cats came hungry!
23 incher!
This was one of 5 that I caught...should have kept them, great eating size! Bob also caught 2 of them and did not want his picture taken....
Towards the end, we got double schoolies!
We fished a 300 yards area. We would make a pass and do well, repeat the other way and it was so-so. make another pass the other way and hammered them, come back down, a bit slower.
When it got windy and wavy, the fish hunkered down. Thankfully, that only lasted a bit more than a hour.
We will be back when the bigger ones show up...in the yaks.
Great day out for sure and we did not melt today!

Always a fun day with Ernie (almost always... there was this one day). Lots of fun today with all the perch and bonus fishies. Can't remember the last time I saw so many channel cats and happily they liked what Ernie was serving up.

Very nice. I think the biggest white perch I've ever caught was about 8", so you probably break my PB 30 times a day.

When I first started fishing for them, Carl and I used to keep 8 inchers to filet. But as we got a little better in finding the bigger ones, we moved that number to 9" and now it's 10"!
Of course, these are all caught in shallow water using 1/8oz spinner baits. You can get some hogs by jigging or using bait over the oyster reef in deeper water.
Tasty fish!
