Roatan

No recent fishing for me but I have seen a whole lot of fish..

Early this AM my girlfriend and I returned from a trip to Roatan, Honduras for the last week.  We did 18 dives along on the west end of the island.  Our divemaster must know the reef better than anyone.  He knows where to find any critter and we always ended exactly at correct location at the end of our dives.  He's been diving there for 20 years.

We dove with four other people from PA. One is a divemaster/instructor himself, and they all had more experience.  They said this trip really set the standards high and that we shouldn't expect to see so much of the stuff that we did.  Pretty everything but a whale shark.  During one surface interval the divemaster spotted dolphins to we headed over and they started playing around the boat as we motored around.

The reef is amazing.  What is really awesome is passing over small ridges and valleys/cracks then to come over a ridge and it drops away to a huge open sandy plain seemingly 100ft below (probably only 40ft or so since we were already ~30ft under) and the total depth was less than 100.  It feels like you're flying.

I took a Contour Roam camera on every dive and my GF had a still camera on most. I've got over 40GB of video and she probably took thousands of pictures.  Most dives lasted between 60-70 minutes. So I've got a lot of work to do to go through everything to put together some highlights.

Here are a couple stills from videos of the first day that I got uploaded already.

I surprised everyone at the end of our last dive.
