My truck (2500 Chevy HD Duramax) is very sick.
My trusted mechanic and former owner of the truck could not get it to run right. Then I took it to a dealer that is known for their truck service and they could not pin point the issue.
Needless to say, I am grounded from fishing until I get it running. Debbie's SUV is no longer an option as I overheated the tranny. Mechanic told me to cut it out (pulling the boat)!
Anyone know of a good diesel engine mechanic?

Have you tried John at Ashburn Sunoco? He drives a big diesel truck.......and he runs a great shop. Tell him I sent you.

I need a diesel specialist....my guy drove a diesel too and he's good. Ted Britt guys are perplexed. But thanks....John did give me a good lead though.

Keeping fingers crossed that John's suggestion is the right one. Truck will be taken to his other shop in Centreville later this afternoon.

You could try Jerry's in Leesburg. There was a specialist there a few years ago when I had a diesel. I new another mechanic there (Ben) and he said that guy was the best.

Thanks....I just heard about that guy. Hopefully, it will get fixed where it's at now.

Good luck Ernie ... surprised the stealership didn't fix it

Stopped by Ashburn Sunoco today on the way home fro work. Big John said the Centerville mechanic drove it around for a while and is still working on figuring out the problem...............

Yep...Kellen thinks he has a beat on it but needs some special tools which they are ordering. I like his determination. More service from them that from the dealer...by a long shot. But we are not out of the woods yet.

They took a guess and were wrong and then gave up on it. Basically told me they could not fix it...nor would try.

Keeping all fingers and toes crossed. The boys at Newgate Sunoco seem to have finally diagnosed the issue and are making the repair. Oh,...the part alone is $1400!

I just drove home in an amazing truck...mine!
The guys at Newgate Sunoco nailed it. Specifically, Kelen. This guy dug in and found out the root cause. What might have seemed like an easy fix was harder because of the readings that were taken. Kellen went a step further and got to the problem.
When I met him, he said, "I will find a way to fix it because I wil learn everything about it."
This shop is not that close (29 and 28) but I would highly recommend it. Of course, the Sunoco in the Village (same owners) is good as Curly mentioned. And if they can't fix something, they will send it to Kellen!
I told Kellen he was nuts....in a good way. We were both very happy with the outcome.

That is good news!

Update- truck runs as good a new. Drove close to 200 miles yesterday and it hit 21 mpg. That's on a 6.7 liter diesel!
When I needed to pass.....it was a breeze. I love my new truck!

I'm a little late to the thread, but I would also recommend http://www.pasadenadieselrepair.com/
It's way out in MD, but it's a VERY good shop run by a father and son. Both are very knowledgable and honest mechanics. I take my 7.3 Super Duty there when needed.
