8-27-08 Solomons Island -Patuxent River, Md.

My neighbor Benton and I launched at 6:00 AM and headed up stream in search of white perch and a possible rockfish. We are still learning this river. We fished on the  right side of the river this time since we found the left side to be more swift than we liked. The water was clear and clean. There were two other trailors in the parking lot; unlike the previous Saturday when there was a line to launch. We had perfect weather conditions except for a little chop on the return. I will not go there on weekends in the future. We caught some of all species ( white perch, croakers (one about 16"), rockfish (no keepers), sea trout, spot, redfish(no keepers). The final count on white perch was 81.

Curly, I actually kept 81 because I knew Luan's family prefers small fish. I do not know how they cook them but Luan told me they eat the bones. They don't even scale them. He said they soak them in some kind of brine and the scales fall off. You met Luan when you and I met. We did have some 10"+ fish but the majority were 7"-9".
